Chicago Blackhawks Secure Jersey Patch Agreement with Circa Sports Scores
Sports firm Circa Sports unveiled on Tuesday its new partnership with the Chicago Blackhawks, becoming their official jersey patch sponsor for the 2024-25 season. This announcement follows closely on the heels of the Florida Panthers clinching the 2024 Stanley Cup.
Circa, a Las Vegas-based company, now shares this unique jersey patch deal within the same professional sports league with only a handful of other businesses. It already holds a similar sponsorship with the Las Vegas Golden Knights. More notably, during the recent NBA season, Ibotta and Motorola secured patch agreements with two teams each.
The union between Circa and the Blackhawks will come into effect later this week, showcasing the Circa logo on the team's jersey at the upcoming 2024 Upper Deck NHL Draft. The agreement also encompasses the release of the Blackhawks' 2024-25 regular season schedule, slated for early summer.
The Blackhawks, one of the NHL's original six franchises, have claimed the Stanley Cup six times, including three victories between 2010 and 2015. However, the financial specifics of the agreement between Circa and the team have not been disclosed.
Strategic Venture by Circa
Circa has already made a mark with Illinois-based bettors. In May 2022, Circa announced plans to venture into Illinois through an agreement with Full House Resorts. This move allows Circa to operate a retail sportsbook at the casino and offer online betting in the state.
Circa launched mobile sports betting in Illinois approximately 10 months ago. Beyond its popularity as a sportsbook catering to sharp bettors, Circa enjoys additional advantages as it seeks growth in Illinois. For example, its annual NFL contests, the Circa Million and Circa Survivor, attract thousands of global participants.
The relationship with the Blackhawks could reap benefits for the gaming company, as the team has been revitalized under the leadership of prodigious talent Connor Bedard.
Circa also provides online sports wagering services in Colorado, Iowa, Kentucky, and Nevada.
NHL Expanding Its Relationships with Betting Sponsors
Like other North American sports leagues, the NHL has become increasingly receptive to sponsorships and marketing deals with gaming companies. For instance, last November, the NHL designated Penn Entertainment’s ESPN Bet as its official sports wagering partner.
During the most recent NHL season, three teams – the Arizona Coyotes, Las Vegas Golden Knights, and Washington Capitals – had sponsorships with gaming companies.
Additionally, 17 teams, accounting for over half the league, have partnership deals with sportsbook operators. Despite the fact that six of the league's US-based teams are in states that prohibit online sports betting, and five teams are situated in Canadian provinces with limited competitive sports betting markets.
