BetMGM Introduces Redesigned Sportsbook App for the Start of NFL Games
Today, BetMGM unveiled its revamped app just in time for the start of the NFL's regular season. The action begins tonight at 8:20 pm ET with the Detroit Lions facing the defending champions, the Kansas City Chiefs.
BetMGM is a 50-50 joint venture between MGM Resorts International and Entain Group, a sports betting company based in the Isle of Man that owns popular UK and European sportsbook brands like Ladbrokes, Coral, Sportingbet, and bwin. The business boasts an online sportsbook licensed in 22 jurisdictions across the US, including states like Arizona, Colorado, DC, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
The Lions and Chiefs are due to start the NFL season tonight, and customers can make their bets using the new and improved BetMGM sportsbook platform. According to BetMGM representatives, the updated app features "extensive evolutions" and improved features, such as same-game parlays and multistate functionality when permitted.
BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt stated, "We created our cutting-edge sports betting platform to offer numerous ways for fans to engage. The next iteration of the BetMGM app represents a significant stride forward in the sports betting experience, increasing the entertainment factor before, during, and after games."
A BetMGM representative confirmed that current customers will receive an automatic update to the latest version of the sportsbook app when they log in.
Major Promotion
A well-liked season-long NFL wager is an incremental pool where individuals select a team to win on a weekly basis. BetMGM's updated app features a free-to-play $100,000 survivor pool. Each week, BetMGM users will choose a team to win. If they triumph, the individual stays in the survivor pool. Lose, and you're out.
Only one team choice is allowed per individual throughout the 18-week regular season. Those who remain in the pool at the conclusion of the regular season will divvy up the $100,000 prize.
The BetMGM app's updated version also offers the technical and regulatory mechanisms for users to move their mobile accounts into new legal sports betting states where allowed. For example, a BetMGM player in Pennsylvania can journey to Maryland to view a Baltimore Ravens game and legally bet through their established account.
Additionally, the new BetMGM app presents the "Same-Game Parlay+" feature, allowing bettors to merge same-game parlays into a "super parlay" with "dramatically enhanced odds."
BetMGM's Market Share
Nearly five and a half years after the US Supreme Court eliminated a federal ban on sports betting, BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel, and Caesars Sportsbook have emerged as the industry's top spots. These platforms continue to expand their operations and technological capabilities. Meanwhile, some former competitors, such as WynnBet and Fox Bet, have either ceased their operations or reigned in their businesses. Penn Entertainment also recently sold off Barstool Sports and Barstool Sportsbook to gain sportsbook share through a new agreement with ESPN for a brand called ESPN Bet.
Currently, NFL opening night has the Chiefs favored by 4.5 points. The total points are 53.5, and the moneyline lists Kansas City at -225 and Detroit at +180.
