At the Christopher Street Festival - Authorities disperse occupation in Hanover
A significant police intervention during Christopher Street Day celebrations in Hanover!
As approximately 12,000 individuals carrying rainbow flags and vivid attire walked by Klagesmarkt around 3:15 p.m., left-wing chaotic protesters attacked an unoccupied house located near the parade route. Law enforcement tried to prevent other CSD participants from entering the house, resulting in a brawl. The cops deployed pepper spray, and one officer suffered injuries.
Amazingly, 15 individuals managed to occupy the residence, which had been vacant for 10 years, showcasing their disagreement with the increasing rents and the shortage of accommodations. The building's owner filed charges related to trespassing and damages. During the house storming, a window pane got shattered.
In the meantime, nearly 70 attendees of the CSD parade amassed in front of the house to demonize the police operation. Gradually, the squatters were removed from the building, and their personal details were documented by the officers.
The only obstacles encountered: two activists who continued to remain on the roof. After waiting for the height intervention team, the two men finally exited the roof voluntarily, allowing the operation to conclude in the evening.
