Stendel's victorious youth team - Zero reward for the 96 promotion.

The U23 team of Hannover 96 secured the championship in the Regionalliga Nord on the second-to-last game day with a 5-0 victory over Eimsbüttel. The coach, Daniel Stendel (50), should now promptly renew his contract.

This remarkable season includes 23 victories, only six losses, and 88 goals scored. Their young squad did not lose a single match at their own training ground, excluding the 1:1 draws against Flensburg and Oldenburg.

Further glory awaits in the last match before promotion to the 3rd division, against Bayern champions Würzburg. The games will take place first in the Kickers (May 29) and then in Hanover's WM-Arena on June 2. Around 20,000 fans are expected to attend.

No Pay Raise for Promotion!

"No one has come to see me," states 96 sports director Marcus Mann (40). He doesn't assume that U23 captain Fynn Arkenberg (28) will also appear at his office. The character of the team demonstrates this as well. All squad members are on fixed-term contracts, and money is not the primary concern.

That would also not change if they were promoted. While professionals typically experience a doubling of their salaries after promotion, no such mandatory salary increases exist for talent contracts.

Along with Verl, Hannover 96's U23 squad would have the smallest budget in the 3rd division. Although the points rewards will rise, the players likely won't get 70 points at the next level, but rather 35. Then they'll play against Essen, Bielefeld, 1860, and Osnabrück instead of Spelle-Venhaus, Jeddeloh, or Drochtersen/Assel.

The selection of young professionals who will participate in the promotion matches will be determined this week. Additionally, Antonio Foti, Mo Damar, and Yannik Lührs (all 20), as well as Kolja Oudenne and Lars Gindorf (both 22), are potential candidates.

If promotion indeed takes place, the club will likely give a small bonus voluntarily - and be glad to do so.
