ZDF Sports Studio begins in an unconventional manner.

On Saturday evening, the ZDF-Sportstudio departed from its usual format. Instead of following the common routine of displaying the studio guest and then the evening match after a brief introduction, the match between Cologne and Union (3:2) was aired first.

Unexpected development ... - ZDF Sports Studio begins in an unconventional manner.

Recently, photographs from the celebration of KSV Holstein Kiel's promotion to the Bundesliga emerged, with a tie against Düsseldorf securing their place. ZDF reporter Alexander Ruda is seen in the background amidst the fans, who stormed the pitch after the game. Despite a five-point lead over Düsseldorf (3rd), the Storks will not be demoted from their promotion spots.

In his live coverage, Ruda amused the audience, commenting: "KSV Holstein Kiel has made it to the Bundesliga for the first time. It's going to be a wild party night. I'm not sure if all the mothers in this city will get their share of attention tomorrow, as the husbands might be out late."

While this might seem funny, it's worth noting that Sunday is Mother's Day.

In response, Müller-Hohenstein said, "Let me set the record straight - the mothers are happy about the promotion. Thanks to Alexander Ruda for the moment in Kiel." She chuckled heartily.

Only after this lighthearted exchange did the studio welcome Patrick Mainka (29, captain of Heidenheim) and proceed with the highlights from the Cologne game. Following that, they moved on to the highlights from Mainz and Dortmund's Saturday evening match (6:30 pm), a critical relegation battle.

Despite the unconventional sequence, this makes sense considering Kiel's promotion had just occurred minutes before the broadcast. It was more practical to show Cologne highlights first, followed by those of the critical Mainz-Dortmund match. Both games were significant in the battle against relegation.
