On Saturday night, around 8 p.m., a 49-year-old jogger was walking along Dammstraße's extension. Suddenly, a man appeared out of nowhere, harshly assaulted her, and tried to force himself on her.
Fortunately, the woman managed to fend off the attacker and notify the police. They quickly tracked down the suspect at a crossroad in Worms, Rhineland-Palatinate.
The prosecutor's office is staying tight-lipped about the specifics of the attack for strategic reasons. Chief Prosecutor Ströber shared, "Sexual acts were forced upon the jogger against her will."
There is a possibility the Syrian, who has no prior criminal record, will try to escape. As a result, an arrest warrant has been issued for him, charging him with sexual assault in an extremely serious case combined with physical harm. No further details were provided.
