Wynn continues last-minute talks with Culinary Alliance

It remains to be seen whether some 5,000 Wynn Resorts hotel workers in Las Vegas will strike at 5 a.m. PT on Friday without an acceptable contract.

Members of the Culinary Alliance at the Wynn and Encore Las Vegas reportedly met with management for the final time Thursday to negotiate a deal.

Wynn Resorts told investors on an earnings call earlier Thursday that the company has allocated funds for expected wage increases, which could be included in a new contract with the Culinary Alliance, Las Vegas TV station KLAS reported Regulation.

Caesars and MGM preliminary quotations

This week, the union reached tentative agreements with Caesars Entertainment and MGM Resorts International.

On Thursday, Culinary Union on X announced it had reached a tentative five-year deal with MGM. This came after a marathon of 20 hours of closed-door negotiations.

It affects about 2,000 employees at eight MGM properties. The deal still needs to be approved by rank-and-file union members.

About 35,000 hotel employees in Las Vegas have been working without contracts since September. About 95% of workers had previously approved the strike. Negotiations lasted about seven months.

Details of the new contract were not released this week. Culinary union officials said the tentative contract includes "the largest wage increase under negotiation" in the union's history, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

The union also prioritizes reducing workloads, improving worker safety, protecting workers through increased automation and improving recall rights, the Review-Journal reported.

If Wynn Resorts hotel employees strike, it could affect the Las Vegas Grand Prix, which starts Nov. 16 and ends Nov. 18 and is expected to bring more than 100,000 visitors to Las Vegas.

Detroit strike continues

Nationwide, 3,700 workers at Detroit's three gaming venues have been on strike since Oct. 17, including the Hollywood Casino in Greektown, the MGM Grand Detroit and the Motor City Casino Hotel. Staff are asking people not to enter the three casinos.
