WSOP European Schedule Adds High Roller Events

The World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) began as a side event to the main WSOP in Las Vegas, but has grown into a major event in its own right over the years. Today, WSOP officials announced the newest addition to the WSOP Europe, scheduled to take place this October in Enghien-les-Bains, France, just a few miles from Paris.

This is the new venue for WSOPE, which has previously hosted European series events in London and other locations in France. This year's tournament will be held at the Barriere Casino, although most of the gaming tables will actually be held across the street at the Pergola Nova Convention Center.

Fall Plan

This year’s schedule starts on October 12th and ends on October 25th. Seven bracelet events will be held during this period. The series begins with a €1,100 ($1,420) no-limit hold'em re-entry event, followed by a Mix Max tournament and a pot-limit Omaha event. There are five preliminary events in total - three Hold'em, two Omaha - and the main event begins on Saturday, October 19.

This year's main event won't be the last on the schedule, however. Starting on Tuesday, October 22, there will be a special High Roller No Limit Hold'em tournament where some of the world's best players can raise €25,600 ($33,000) to compete in the most expensive bracelet event in WSOP Europe history.

If you notice that the game selection in this collection is a bit limited, there's a reason for that: French law only allows casinos to offer Omaha and Texas Hold'em games. This isn’t a huge concession, as these two games are by far the most popular options in the poker world, but it does mean you won’t find the incredible variety of different tournaments that are played every year WSOP event logo. The WSOP Europe was held in London in 2007. In 2011, the series moved to Cannes, France, to take advantage of a larger venue that could accommodate more players per game.

This year's WSOPE is hosted by BarrierePoker.fr and will be televised on ESPN and Eurosport.
