Taylor-Joy attends the Cannes debut of "Furiosa: A Mad Max Tale" - Wow, Anya!
The engines are running high, fans are filled with anticipation for the latest installment in the "Mad Max" franchise. But Anya Taylor-Joy remains unfazed by the buzz surrounding her new movie.
On the red carpet, the rising star looks as graceful as ever in her Dior dress, her neck elongated gracefully, a subtle smile adorning her face - Anya Taylor-Joy exudes old Hollywood glamor on the Côte d'Azur.
Chris Hemsworth also makes a strong impression in his white jacket and black trousers. Accompanied by his wife Elsa Pataky (47), they looked every inch the coupledom on the red carpet.
In the upcoming prequel to "Mad Max: Fury Road", titled "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga", Taylor-Joy takes on the lead role of Furiosa, previously played by Charlize Theron (48).
Hemsworth will portray the villain Dementus, sporting a beard, prosthetic nose, and a red cape - a wardrobe item he's grown tired of after years of wearing it as Thor.
Director George Miller (79) expressed his excitement about premiering his film on the French Riviera. "To showcase it on a big screen in a theater with around 2,000 viewers, with beautiful sound quality, is a big deal. This is the epitome of movie-going experience," he remarked before the big screen debut. He was thrilled to have been asked to present his film at Cannes.
The Cannes Film Festival, celebrating its 77th edition, serves as the ideal setting for the premiere - the same location that held audiences captive with "Mad Max: Fury Road" nine years ago.
Taylor-Joy has special memories of Cannes, having won the Best Newcomer Actress award during her first visit in 2017. Her accolade was handed to her by her predecessor as Furiosa, Charlize Theron.
Other familiar faces graced the red carpet: top model Naomi Campbell (53), director Baz Luhrmann (61, "The Great Gatsby"), and director and jury president Greta Gerwig (40, "Barbie"). The two women cuddled up on the red carpet.
"Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga" is set to be released in German theaters on May 23, 2024.
But not everyone managed to pull off an elegant appearance. Model and actress Victoria Silvstedt (49) traded class for controversy, her evening gown frequently revealing more than intended.
Even the tiny strip of adhesive meant to secure the fabric in place failed to prevent the occasional wardrobe malfunction...
