Woman arrested in Vegas over Spirit Airlines crash: Video
Video of a plane crash briefly captured the attention of the entire internet on Thursday. Video shows Las Vegas police arresting an unidentified woman who was in an apparent mental health crisis as her Spirit Airlines flight waited to take off on the tarmac at Harry Reid International Airport .
More than 2 million people have viewed the video since TikToker realkingjon posted it on March 23. "Let go!" the woman in the video screams. "Am I free to do this? All I care about is freedom!"
"You're under arrest," one of the officers explained.
"I can go out alone!" the woman replied. "Why are you doing this? Why do you treat me like a gangster?"
After the woman screamed from the pain caused by the handcuffs, she lunged at the officers, who pushed her back into her seat.
"I can't breathe!" the woman asked, apparently trying to compare her situation to the murder of George Floyd. "Why did you touch my leg?"
Lift up! Are you getting off!
As a result of the incident, all passengers had to leave the plane, the TikToker reported. In the comments section of the TikTok video, the woman, her passengers and the officers expressed sympathy. "This is really sad," one user wrote. "I hope she can find help and comfort."
Another TikToker added: "This is the evil spirit she has and it's happening in front of everyone."
"How did she get through airport security?" asked another. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police did not respond to a request for comment and did not mention the incident on Twitter. However, the New York Post reported the story on Thursday, which should force a response. In its own unique style, The Washington Post compared the woman’s behavior to “Jim Carrey’s contortionist performance in The Mask of Disguise.”
