At last, the end goal in view!
After joining VfB Stuttgart as sports director in December 2022 from the second-division club Paderborn, the native Berliner rose to the top alongside board member Alexander Wehrle (49). Together, they successfully recruited coach Sebastian Hoeneß (42) to the club.
This dynamic trio managed to turn around the ailing traditional club sportswise during the previous summer. New signings such as Alexander Nübel (27), Maximilian Mittelstädt (27), Angelo Stiller (23), and Deniz Undav (27) have all settled in, creating a solid and consistent unit for VfB.
The position of sports director was vacated after their successful stint. It's likely that Christian Gentner (38) will take over this role, having been the head of the professional player department since January 2023. As Wohlgemuth mentioned, it's just a matter of time before he's promoted.
