Albers and Sinani lead the way in their respective fields. - "With everything being open now, what's next for St. Pauli's triumphant players?"
Andreas Albers (34) and Danel Sinani (27) emerged as St. Pauli's champion heroes in their 2-1 victory against Wehen Wiesbaden. Their first goals of the season helped secure the top spot, leading the team to the second division title!
Hailing from Denmark, striker Albers joined from Regensburg the previous summer, and his contract is about to expire. His season statistics are average: 17 league games, out of which he started just three, scored one goal, and provided no assists. Additionally, he made one substitute appearance in the cup.
However, Albers is happy with his time at the club: "I'm very comfortable here, I've accepted my role. I'm excited to keep training with these incredibly talented players. We'll have a discussion about my future after the season."
The season was less fulfilling for versatile attacker Sinani, who transferred from Norwich City at the season's start. He only played seven league games, filling in as a substitute each time. In the cup, he featured in two matches as a starter but was substituted in both. His lone goal against Wiesbaden was his solitary contribution of the season.
It hasn't been an ideal scenario for the Luxembourg national team player: "Maintaining motivation throughout the season was a challenge. Scoring that goal brought a lot of thoughts to my mind. There will undoubtedly be talks - but it's not the right time yet."
Sinani still has international matches to attend to before that. Moreover, there's the second division championship to celebrate first.
