WinStar World Casino Resorts partners with Lucas Oil for expansion
WinStar World Casino Resort in Sackville, Oklahoma is already one of the largest casinos in the world. It got big quickly.
WinStar is located in numerous casinos, each with its own theme, offering nearly 10,500 slot machine and video game locations and more than 100 table games. The sprawling property also features approximately 2,000 hotel rooms, 19 restaurants and bars, retail stores, a resort pool and an 18-hole championship golf course.
WinStar, owned and operated by the Chickasaw Nation, is preparing to open its newest facility — a new live concert venue with seating for more than 6,500 spectators. The Chickasaw Band announced this week that they are partnering with Indianapolis-based automotive lubricants and additives maker Lucas Oil to build their new concert facility.
Lucas Oil has acquired naming rights to the 6,500-seat venue, which will be called Lucas Oil Live.
"The Lucas Oil Live venue enhances the resort experience for our guests and fans, and we welcome the return of live entertainment," said Jack Parkinson, general manager of WinStar.
Our guests can enjoy an exciting atmosphere in a venue that is nearly twice the size of our previous venue, with additional amenities to enhance the live entertainment experience. The sonic and technical capabilities of this new venue will allow us to continue attracting the industry’s most popular acts,” added Parkinson.
WinStar has suspended live concerts, conferences and other indoor events during the pandemic. These events are typically held at the casino's Global Events Center.
WinStar closed its 250,000-square-foot Global Events Center during the pandemic and later replaced it with a smoke-free gaming floor connected to the Rome Gaming Plaza. The event center will now return to its original purpose through Lucas Oil Live.
Adjustable Concert Space
Lucas Oil Live’s amphitheater-style layout offers a variety of seating options from VIP to general admission. Suite and club level offerings are also planned.
Tribal officials said the goal is to create a home that "will serve as a home for some of the best live music venues and events in the country." The venue will also feature a "flexible VIP lounge" that can be reconfigured and resized to accommodate mid-week meetings and business meetings.
WinStar hopes to open Lucas Oil Live in the fall.
Hot Spring Tower Opening
WinStar recently opened its newest hotel tower, following news of Lucas Oil Live. The accommodation is called "The Spa Towers" and is described as a "luxury resort."
WinStar Spa Tower's facilities feature a "two-level spa experience," offering luxurious services in a tranquil atmosphere. The 304-room hotel opened last month.
The casino said the Spa Tower and Lucas Oil Live projects are part of plans to improve and expand the hotel. Casino officials said WinStar's hotel rooms are occupied most of the year, with Texans accounting for about 90% of the total business.
WinStar is located just north of the Texas-Oklahoma border, about 70 flight miles from downtown Dallas and Fort Worth. Oklahoma and Texas both ban commercial gambling. But the Sooner State allows its federally recognized tribes to operate Class III casinos.
WinStar is one of the richest casinos in the United States in terms of annual gaming revenue. The Chickasaws generated more than $2 billion in total gaming revenue from casinos last year. In addition to WinStar, the tribe owns 22 other casinos and gaming facilities in Oklahoma.
