William Hill worker suspected of stealing more than $70,000 through kiosk system

At least three William Hill employees have been fired for "embezzling" more than $70,000 from a Nevada sports betting site's kiosks, according to Nevada officials.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) began investigating the incidents in December 2022.

In this case, the suspect was found to have made one-time adjustments of $100, $500, $1,000, $1,500, $2,000 and $2,500,” according to Las Vegas KLAS television station, citing the NGCB A report.

William Hill customer service representatives were caught using a computer program to "fraudulently" deposit money into a self-service terminal, authorities said. The suspects then printed out the illegal vouchers and subsequently redeemed them. The suspect also used his cell phone to select which kiosk to replace, officials said.

One worker named in the plan was identified as Mariah Butler. She was hired as a supervisor and was wanted on charges of forging documents, authorities said.

The second employee was identified as Tionne Ryans. Ryans allegedly made nearly half of the inappropriate adjustments in just one month. Last month, Ryans was charged with theft between $25,000 and $100,000 and forgery.

Four other suspects are said to be involved in the scheme and are wanted for theft.

Previous corruption

Last February, Nevada authorities made a similar arrest for embezzlement at a William Hill kiosk in Las Vegas, KLAS reported.

The two people charged last year were supervisor Shravan Singh and customer service representative Paige Steiner. Singer and Steiner have since pleaded guilty to five counts. According to KLAS, they will pay over $200,000 in restitution.

Initially, 290 charges were filed against Steiner. According to KLAS, Singer made fraudulent cash adjustments to 166 appointments and misappropriated more than $280,000.

The investigation that led to the arrests of Singer and Steiner was launched in 2021.

Because of Singer's status and involvement, the embezzlement was not initially discovered by William Hill," prosecutors announced last year. "Singer's involvement not only prevented him from making fraudulent cash adjustments, but also prevented [others] from making any fraudulent cash adjustments. Compliance department reports. "

When William Hill's internal review uncovered problems, company officials notified Nevada authorities.

William Hill operates more than 100 horse racing and sports betting sites in Nevada. In 2021, Caesars Entertainment acquired William Hill for nearly $4 billion.
