Speculations explode around Schalke. - Will Manga and Wilmots' partnership continue for long?

For some time now, there have been indications that tension exists between manager Ben Manga (50) and sporting director Marc Wilmots (55) at their workplace.

It's reported that they have significant disagreements on several issues. With each transfer, a major conflict seems imminent.

Scandalous claims at Schalke: When was their relationship healthy?

Heavily strained, according to word on the street within the club - senior staffer Matthias Tillmann (40) is believed to have given Manga (recently at England's second division Watford/previously Frankfurt) almost absolute control, while at the same time distancing himself from Wilmots and also coach Karel Geraerts (42, contract until 2025).

In plain English: Manga is viewed as a savior and has full support from those in charge, while Wilmots and his work are being questioned.

One might argue that healthy tension can enhance talent acquisition decisions. However, if Manga ultimately wields all the power, a clash appears inevitable. Wilmots ("Fighting Pig") and Geraerts are both strong personalities.

Amidst the XXL revamp (up to 15 players departing), there's another shake-up involving both the boss and the coach. This could lead to more chaotic antics at Schalke.
