Who Should Be the Next Resident in America's Sphere?

As the time for U2's Sphere performance comes to a close, surmise about who might perform next has become a widespread topic. Folks are guessing it could be Steelers Wheel, Bon Jovi, or even Lady Gaga - returning to Vegas. But then, there's the intriguing prospect of Harry Styles displaying his artistry. There's no shortage of speculation.

While some are hailing the potential of Dead & Company as the following Sphere guests, the question arises: Which performer does America truly desire? Hoping to clear up the commotion, we surveyed 3,000 Americans on their Sphere-residency-wishlist. Here's what we uncovered:

  • The preferred performers:
  • When it comes to the present crop of eminent rumored artists or bands, Lady Gaga grabs the number one position.
  • Dead & Company proved last in the rankings, despite the news of their possible 2024 summer stay at The Sphere.
  • Envisioning the unanticipated:
  • From Spotify's 2023 top-streamed artists list, it's Taylor Swift who steals the show, as our survey stellately declares her leader.
  • Americans crave pop music the most to be the genre showcased at The Sphere.

Executing the anticipation: Top-ranked imaginary performers

No further ado, let's embrace Lady Gaga as the ultimate dream artist, according to our country-wide poll. Her monarch aura overcomes the hype, with Gaga's sensational Vegas residency performances and chart-busting anthems such as 'Shallow,' 'Bad Romance,' and 'Paparazzi.' And anyone can see how her 'Poker Face' would liven up a casino atmosphere - perfect for The Sphere!

Quickly following suit (and we're not referring to the dance moves) is none other than Queen Bey herself. Beyond her notable Vegas engagements, her recent Renaissance tour and box-office blockbuster have acclaimed her a surefire enthralling act to fill the expansive dome. It's safe to say that Beyoncé has America in a spell, and with good reason.

Next up, the conclave of fans have agreed: Coldplay takes the stage for America's Sphere residency objectives. With their sublime enthrallment, we imagine an awe-inspiring scene: vibrant yellow hues and their masterpieces like 'Yellow,' 'Viva La Vida,' 'Fix You,' The Scientist,' and more.

Apparently, Dead & Company is grappling for a chance at The Sphere's 2024 summer hootenanny. Sadly, our research suggests less romantic relations among listeners and potential Sphere enthusiasts, as they're voted least favored overall.

Playing against the grain: Other appealing options

To widen the perspective, we engaged our 3,000-strong audience and asked “Considering Spotify’s top 2023 most listened-to artists and the rumored residency contenders, who would you prefer to headline The Sphere’s upcoming residency?”

Taylor Swift, the undisputed queen of pop, lands first once more, mesmerizing listeners around the world since her 2023's record-breaking streaks and awards exploded through the stratosphere. We'll have to wait for her concert extravaganza to crescendo before envisioning her at The Sphere.

Securing second to none price position, it's unsurprising that the veteran Gaga's high vote count hints at America's yearning for another captivating Vegas exhibition.

Third on the public's wishlist? Why, Bruno Mars, the ultimate party animal, with his electrifying Vegas mumbo-jumbo! Because who can resist those chart-toppers like '24K Magic,' 'That's What I Like,' 'Lazy Song,' and 'Uptown Funk'?

Here are the ultimate top-streamed artists from 2023 up for contention: Eminem (4th), Paul McCartney (5th), Beyoncé (6th), Eagles (7th), Bon Jovi (8th), Coldplay (9th), and Billie Eilish (10th).

Wrapping up future ventures: The Sphere's dream concert

We also delved into America's preferences around genres for future residencies:

  • The highest-ranked genre? It's pop!

In early 2024, we questioned 3,000 American individuals about their preferences for the upcoming Sphere residency's artists. We polled them using our list of anticipated residents, coupled with Spotify's top played artists of 2023 for the second question of the study.

The average respondent age was 40.4 years old. Our sample was well-representing, consisting of 53.7% females, 44.4% males, 1.2% non-binary individuals, 0.6% transgenders, and 0.1% other genders.
