'Wheel of Fortune' Online Casino Introduced in New Jersey with MGM Endorsed System
The recently launched Wheel of Fortune Online Casino, in partnership with MGM Resorts, Sony Pictures Television, and International Game Technology (IGT), is now operational in New Jersey. Operating under MGM Resorts' Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, it joins the ranks of the eight active iGaming license holders in the state. Borgata's iGaming allowance has been extended to 10 online casino platforms, which include BetMGM, PartyPoker, Borgata Casino, and Pala Bingo.
This past week, Borgata's iGaming permit welcomed an 11th digital gambling destination with the addition of the Wheel of Fortune Online Casino. Accessible to gamblers within the borders of New Jersey, this casino is the latest addition to their expansive collection.
The nightly Wheel of Fortune game show premiered its 40th season in September 2022, granting gamblers across the US the opportunity to partake in casino slot machine games with the Wheel brand for the past quarter-century. IGT, a gaming technology leader and a partner of Sony, holds the rights to endorse the Wheel brand in slot machines via their contract.
In addition to New Jersey, there are currently only five other states permitting iGaming with interactive slots and table games. This makes the state's thriving online gaming market the wealthiest, amassing over $1.6 billion from iGaming operators last year.
This total certainly doesn't include revenue from online sports betting, which has surged in recent years.
Licensed iGaming operators in New Jersey are permitted to share their operational licences with third-party platforms if they're judged suitable by the state's gaming regulators. BetMGM, led by Adam Greenblatt, is responsible for maintaining the legitimacy of the Wheel Casino site. Greenblatt expressed excitement about the introduction of the Wheel Online Casino, stating, "We're ecstatic to offer players in New Jersey the opportunity to play for real money and enjoy the rich Wheel of Fortune experience on their phones. We boast a superb relationship with the Wheel franchise and IGT, and relish the prospect of introducing our customers to a widespread range of unique and diverse gaming options."
This isn't the Wheel brand's first venture into digital gambling – the platform features both casino slots and table games but no live dealer games. To appeal to new players, the Wheel Online Casino offers a selection of sign-up promotions.
The Wheel brand is renowned for its long-standing presence in the US, with its continuous airing since 1975. Pat Sajak became the show's protagonist in 1981 after a contract dispute between host Chuck Woolery and production company. Wheel of Fortune currently has over 60 international adaptations; nations such as Brazil, China, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, the Philippines, and Russia have their own versions of the iconic game show.
