The focus now is on the million-dollar reclamation. - What's the cost of acquiring Kompany in Bayern?
Will Bayern have to splash out on a costly coach transfer once again?
As we speak, the focus is on the potential price tag for Kompany should he make the move to Bayern.
The truth of the matter is that Kompany has a massive contract at Burnley that runs until 2028. Consequently, it's believed that Burnley will be asking for a pretty penny for their manager.
In England, when Bayern inquired about Oliver Glasner (49), they were met with a staggering €100 million price tag. Bayern definitely won't be up for that kind of money for Kompany.
That said, Bayern are said to be willing to pay up to €18 million for Glasner. It's possible that Burnley has heard about that figure.
To give you some perspective, Bayern paid out around €20 million to RB Leipzig for Julian Nagelsmann (36) a few years back.
There's also the matter of Burnley's Allan Pace (?) being close friends with Kompany, making it unlikely he'd put any roadblocks in his way. Bayern was reported to have already had preliminary talks with Pace on Wednesday.
The next couple of days are pivotal for Bayern. They're hoping they can hash out a deal with the necessary parties.
Max Eberl (50) will now need to engage in negotiations over the transfer fee with the relevant parties. After that, he has to pitch the amount to the supervisory board, securing their approval. This could be a tricky process given the supervisory board's penchant for keeping expenses to a minimum, particularly when it comes to coach severance packages and transfer fees.
In case you're rusty on Kompany's background, the former Belgian international (89 caps) made his way from HSV to Manchester City back in 2008 for €8.5 million. In the following years, he claimed four titles and three cups with City. His coaching career hasn't lived up to the hype just yet. He managed RSC Anderlecht in Belgium from 2020 to 2022, was promoted to the Premiership with Burnley as League Two champions in 2023, and is now back in the second division.
