Werder Boss Unveils Hidden Facts - Werner was put to sleep by Kiel's rise.
When you encounter Ole Werner (36) from this day forward, you'll notice he has tired-looking eyes. His coach's delight over the recent promotion of his previous club Holstein Kiel kept him up at night.
"I had a chat with Amos (Pieper) in the physio room on Monday, confessed Werner, I'm currently finding it hard to sleep. That usually happens to me when our team is also winning. And that was the case with Holstein's promotion."
Holstein's promotion interrupted Werner's rest
As the Holstein coach in 2021, Werner narrowly missed out on promotion in the relegation play-off. His successor, Marcel Rapp, has now managed to achieve it.
"Holstein was just in the 4th division a short while ago, and a laughing stock in the city overshadowed by handball players," Werner shared his happiness. "I'm simply over the moon about it."
