Revised approach! - Werder gears up for a fast-paced transfer season.
Back in August of last year, Werder Bremen and Borussia Dortmund announced the transfer of Niclas Füllkrug (31). At the same time, Bremen added Olivier Deman (24) and Senne Lynen (25) to their roster.
During the transfer period, it's important to know who's coming and going. Fritz, Bremen's future sporting director (starting on July 1st), said, "We'll need to bring in more revenue from transfers this summer. We can take action and don't have to wait for other teams to make moves. With the European Championship, it's likely the market will kick off later."
Ahead of the curve: Werder is planning a speedy transfer season!
With a focus on early squad preparation, Fritz plans to wrap up its summer transfer plans sooner than last year. As a crucial first step, Werder extended Mitchell Weiser's (30) contract, providing him with the clarity he sought.
Speaking after the Bochum match (4:1), Weiser shared his thoughts: "We didn't act quickly enough in the transfer market last year. I wanted to avoid repeating that."
Both coach Ole Werner (36) and new professional director Peter Niemeyer (40) are on board with Uwe Fritz's early-bird approach. Coach Werner said, "It's important for us to complete our squad planning sooner and establish the team's hierarchy and processes."
