Week 4 Waiver Wire Additions: Tank Dell, Joshua Palmer, and De'Von Achane
In Week 3 of the NFL, some key players were injured, which could lead to potential waiver wire pickups for your fantasy football team in the following week. Consider adding Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane, Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer, and Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell to your roster.
If you're looking for rookies, keep an eye on Denver Broncos wide receiver Marvin Mims, Jr., Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta, and Green Bay Packers tight end Luke Musgrave.
Musgrave hasn't scored a touchdown yet this season for the Green Bay Packers. However, he had six receptions for 49 yards in the team's victory over the New Orleans Saints, and has developed a connection with quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
LaPorta has had an impressive season so far, with eight receptions for 84 yards and one touchdown for the Detroit Lions against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 3. He has 18 catches for 186 yards and has built a rapport with quarterback Jared Goff.
Mims is a rookie wide receiver for the Denver Broncos who's only seen the field for 25% of the snaps this season due to Jerry Jeudy's return. But when he's on the field, he makes an impact. Quarterback Russell Wilson targeted Mims just nine times, but he caught seven passes for 195 yards and one touchdown. Mims also returned a kick for a touchdown in Week 3.
De'Von Achane (RB, Dolphins)
Achane didn't play in Week 1 and had limited action in Week 2 against the New England Patriots, rushing once for five yards. But in Week 3 against the Denver Broncos, he exploded with four combined touchdowns and scored a total of 51.3 fantasy points for ESPN PPR leagues.
Although Achane was the backup running back in Week 3, he out-performed starter Raheem Mostert, with 18 rushes for 203 yards and two rushing touchdowns. He also added four catches for 30 yards and two touchdown receptions.
Despite his incredible Week 3 performance, ESPN has projected just 12.5 fantasy points for Achane in Week 4.
Joshua Palmer (WR, Chargers)
With wide receiver Mike Williams out with a season-ending knee injury and ACL surgery, Palmer moves up the Chargers depth chart once again, from WR #3 to WR #2 behind Keenan Allen. Palmer has previously filled in for Williams when he suffered a high-ankle sprain and missed a playoff game with a back injury, so this isn't new territory for the third-year wide receiver.
Selected by the Chargers in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Palmer caught 33 passes and scored four touchdowns as a rookie in 2021. He then had 72 receptions for 768 yards and three touchdowns last season.
Palmer caught eight passes for 83 yards and one touchdown in three games this season. Chargers rookie wide receiver Quentin Johnston could also see more playing time if Palmer isn't available, providing another option with a connection to Justin Herbert.
Tank Dell (WR, Texans)
Dell set a franchise record for the Texans on Sunday, with 145 receiving yards, the most yards in a game by a rookie wide receiver. Despite being targeted seven times, he caught five passes, including one touchdown. In his three games this season, Dell has 15 catches for 251 yards and two touchdowns.
Dell played college football for the Houston Cougars and has stayed in the city to play professionally. The Texans drafted him with a third-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, and he's already making an impact just three games into his pro career.
Stroud currently ranks 12th among quarterbacks in ESPN's fantasy football leagues. He's made 121 passing attempts without throwing an interception in the first three games of the season. He failed to complete any touchdown passes during his debut in Week 1, but he's managed to throw four touchdowns in the last two games.
