Underneath their outerwear, men disrobe. - Wearing a suit without a shirt - is it possible?
Over at the red carpet on movie premieres or award ceremonies, you'll always notice the men dressed in suits. But lately, especially celebrities have been ditching the shirts and just wearing the jacket, breaking up the stiffness of the formal wear.
This trend is no longer just for style enthusiasts, it's popping up at every event that's popular for a moment. But can this look also work in our daily lives?
Inspired by Rock Stars and Fashion Leaders
The classic suit has been tweaked for as long as there have been fashion shows. Sometimes the sleeves are shorter, sometimes the pants are wider. And sometimes the shirt is missing - first seen at Jean Paul Gaultier's (72) debut show in 1983.
The French fashion designer was influenced by Yves Saint Laurent's "Le Smoking", which was a sophisticated menswear piece for women that the models wore without shirts.
Actors like Harry Styles (30), Donald Glover (40), and Timothée Chalamet (28), all known for their bold style choices, regularly rock this look without following any fashion rules.
How to Rock This Outfit
For non-celebrities, this trend could work if you know how to pull it off. It would be perfect for a casual summer wedding, a concert visit, or even a fancy date night. Confidence is key to making this outfit complete.
►Accessories: The neckline is a great place for some bling. Opt for gold or silver chains (or both!) instead of a simple leather band with a pendant. It's more in line with the intended style.
►Shine: Whether you choose to keep your chest hair or trim it is up to you. However, a touch of moisturizer or some coconut or olive oil will highlight the definition of your chest without making it look greasy.
►Tank Top: If you're not confident about going completely shirtless, you can start slow and wear a tank top or open shirt under your jacket. Leave it unbuttoned to complete the look.
