Germany's DEB team had little left to play for in their match against Sweden, with the final score being a disappointing 1-6. They now face a somewhat easier opponent in Latvia. If Germany wants to progress to the quarter-finals, they'll need to win at least three out of their last four group games.
Having won all three of their group games so far - two of them in overtime - Latvia is a formidable opponent. They've beaten Poland (5-4), France (3-2), and most recently, Kazakhstan (2-0). Currently, Latvia would advance to the quarter-finals, but they still have to play against the powerful teams of the USA and Sweden.
