Washington state 'serial killer' targets casino jackpot winner
A Washington state woman allegedly killed by suspected serial killer Richard Bradley Jr. may have been targeted because she won a $20,000 jackpot at a local casino.
Bradley was jailed in 2021 after being charged in the death of 44-year-old Brandi Blake, whose body was found buried at Game Farm Park in Auburn, Washington.
This month, prosecutors filed three additional murder charges against Bradley. Prosecutors allege he also killed father and son Michael Goeman, 59, and Vance Lakey, 31, in 2021 and Emilio Mar, 36, in 2019. Emilio Maturin.
Each victim died with a large amount of cash and ready to show off. Prosecutors allege that each was lured to a remote, wooded area by Bradley with the promise of finding hidden gold.
Nugget Killer
Bradley allegedly told the victims he needed help digging up a stash of gold he had stolen and buried and provided them with a copy. He then shot them and stole their vehicle and its contents, prosecutors said.
Black was reported missing in May 2021, shortly after winning at an unknown casino. She was last seen leaving a supermarket with Bradley on May 5.
Investigators found her face-down body in a shallow grave in the park. A shovel, a pickaxe, an electronic room key to the hotel where she was staying and three human ribs that did not belong to Blake were found nearby.
DNA technology identified the items as belonging to Emilio Maturin, a suspected Mexican drug trafficker with whom Bradley had befriended several years earlier. According to prosecutors, Maturin carried drugs and cash wherever he went.
Murder of Father and Son
By the time Blake disappeared, Bradley was already interested in the shootings of Gorman and Leckie, whose bodies were found just days apart on a dirt rural road in Auburn in April 2021.
According to prosecutors, Gorman received a large inheritance shortly before he and his son were killed.
Bradley was charged with second-degree arson in May 2021 after he allegedly gave a man $1,000 to set Gorman's SUV on fire after it was impounded by police.
Bradley has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in connection with Brandi Blake's death and is scheduled to go to trial next month. He has yet to enter pleas to three other murder charges.
