Bayern foes suffer outfit blunder - Was Würzburg's reputation at stake?

Würzburg Baskets faced a night to forget in their first semi-final clash against FC Bayern Stars in the Easycredit BBL. NBA champions Serge Ibaka and his teammates dominated the underdogs, leading to a 49-27 score in the first half.

Pants Full or Radler Shorts?

During the pre-match warm-up, whispers circulated among the crowd in the sold-out BMW Arena. The Würzburg players were seen wearing white jerseys and shorts, and some spectators thought they might have accidentally worn their Radler shorts over their regular uniform. However, this was just the light reflecting off the Radler shorts worn underneath the players' regular attire.

Their performance in the first half was nothing short of disastrous, as the squad led by star coach Pablo Laso taught the underdogs a valuable lesson. Würzburg's Max Ugrai summed it up aptly, "It was a lesson in class difference."

In the second half, the Baskets managed to narrow the gap, reducing the deficit to eleven points. But this was primarily due to the Bayern players - including Andi Obst, Niels Giffey, and Isaac Bonga - lowering the intensity.

The first game of the Best-of-Five series ended with a 91:76 victory for the Bayern Stars.

Würzburg's Sasa Filipovski acknowledged his team's shortcomings, "The Bayern are stronger, taller, and simply better, especially in the first half, which was evident."

Despite their loss, the underdogs remain undeterred, "My players dream of such games. It's the semi-finals. There's no lack of energy. But we need to approach Game 2 differently."

Gam 2 is scheduled for Friday at 8:30 pm at the BMW Park in Munich as the Baskets aim to avoid a repeat of their lackluster performance in the first game. The final is on the horizon, and the Baskets can't afford to have their pants full again.
