Virtual Sports attract investment from Kambi Group
Kambi Group, a sports betting provider, invests €565,000 to acquire 25% of Maltese start-up Virtus Sports' shares. The goal behind this investment is to incorporate virtual sports into Kambi's B2B products.
Kambi Group supplies the technical sports betting platform for several renowned brands, such as 888sports, LeoVegas, MrGreen, and Rank Group, offering a full solution that encompasses markets, odds, trading, risk management, and user interface. In the near future, Kambi's partners will have the opportunity to offer wagers on virtual sporting events — an area that Kambi has yet to explore.
Through this investment, Kambi not only fills a gap in its product range by featuring virtual sports in its offerings. They also support Virtus Sports' ongoing product development and global sales efforts. Kristian Nylen, the CEO of Kambi, commented on the investment:
"Not only are we integrating these games into our offerings, but we're also helping support the continued development of Virtus Sports' product and their sales to the entire market."
Virtus Sports, a 2014-founded company based in Malta and England, specializes in creating 3D sports simulations covering motorsports, dog and horse racing, and soccer. Betting on virtual competitions can be done in betting shops as well as on PCs and mobile devices. Providers benefit from being able to run virtual sporting events at any time, typically lasting less than a minute, providing customers with a constant source of entertaining betting opportunities. The games from Virtus Sports recently drew Nylen's attention due to their impressive 3D graphics. He said:
"Though Virtus Sports is still in its early stages of development, they've already demonstrated the ability to create high-quality and engaging virtual sports games."
In online gaming, customization is a valuable feature. Providers can add their own brand logos to the games and even change the winning odds. This gives Kambi's clients the freedom to customize their virtual sports offerings to suit their specific needs. Unfortunately, the release date for Virtus Sports' games to appear in the portfolios of LeoVegas, 888, and other partners is still uncertain.
