Venetian opens U2 museum ahead of band's Las Vegas residency
A pop-up exhibition billed as the "ultimate stop" for U2 fans is taking place the day before the opening of the Venetian Hotel (MSG Sphere). The MSG Sphere is a $2.3 billion concert hall behind the famous Irish rock band's casino resort.
“Zoo Station: The U2:UV Experience” opens Thursday, September 28, with 12,000 square feet of interactive exhibit space over two floors filled with artifacts from the band’s history.
Zoo Station will serve as a central hub/destination where people can celebrate, meet, shop, watch exclusive U2 content and immerse themselves in the band’s history,” a press release states.
Exhibitions include a gallery of the best work by U2 photographer Anton Corbijn and the band, a bar called Fly and Zoo TV Cinema, as well as an intimate theater curated by U2 guitarist The Edge, showing rare footage of the band daily.
Immersive experience
The exhibition will also recreate the zoo near Berlin's Hansa Studios - where U2 recorded much of their 1991 album Aehrung Baby. The replica includes the train station entrance that inspired album opener "Zoo Station," as well as a life-size subway car.
Unlike the band’s residency, which takes place most weekends September 29-December 6, admission to Zoo Station is free. The only exception is the theater, where tickets must be purchased in advance at https://u2.vibee.com/.
The exhibition is located next to the LOVE sculpture in the Venetian Falls Atrium and is open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
