Vegas Restaurant Update: Cronut Innovator Opens Second Strip Venue; Speculations Arise on José Andrés' Bazaar's Future
This fall, Dominique Ansel will launch his second food outlet on the Strip. Dominique Ansel Marché will open at Paris Las Vegas, as announced on Tuesday. This will be in addition to Dominique Ansel Las Vegas, which the James Beard Award-winning French pastry chef opened at Caesars Palace in May 2022.
His new concept, which is said to be inspired by the sidewalk markets in France, will take over the space formerly occupied by JJ's Boulangerie. The menu at Dominique Ansel Marché will feature savory items like rotisserie chicken and potatoes.
Ansel said in a press release, "I've always loved the open-air markets that often pop up throughout Paris, where you can find the best and freshest foods." In addition to savory dishes, his new restaurant will offer sweet treats like croissants, viennoiserie, cakes, and his signature creation - cronuts.
Meanwhile, Josá Andrés is gearing up to open his fifth Las Vegas Strip restaurant. However, it seems he may have to close his third Strip eatery beforehand. According to a rumour reported by Vital Vegas, Bazaar Meat, which is considered one of the best steakhouses in Las Vegas, could shut down after 10 years at the Sahara. Gossip about the closure is circulating, though no official announcement has been made.
Big B’s Texas BBQ has also moved. After being in business for five years at South Fort Apache Road, it has closed and is now relocating to a new location four miles north at 8125 W. Sahara Blvd. The original Big B's, which was opened in Henderson in 2014, remains open.
Chef Oscar Amador Edo and his team behind Anima by Edo and Las Vegas EDO Tapas & Wine are planning to open a new restaurant at the Collective Shopping Mall at 3900 Paradise Road. Permit paperwork obtained by What Now Vegas gives us a hint about this new venture.
La Mojarra Loca, a Mexican chain with four Las Vegas locations, has been fined $160,000 for violating labor laws and causing damages resulting from not properly compensating 33 employees for overtime. The company, which translates to "The Crazy Fish" in Spanish, has been fined before, with penalties totalling $500,000 in back wages and damages, and $34,000 in penalties related to similar charges in 2019 and 2022.

Solamente Pizza, a popular eatery that started at the Las Vegas Test Kitchen and took over from Yukon Pizza, will soon have a new home. Chef Ethan Spiezer will reopen the pizzeria this summer at 8390 W. Sahara Ave, Suite 130. The Test Kitchen's closure last year led to Solamente sharing a space in the Town Square Mall for several months, and its popularity was even spoofed by impostor listings on food delivery apps like Uber Eats.
