Vegas Restaurant Roundup: Why is Wynn Mizumi reopening without its star chef?

Even before arriving at Wynn Las Vegas in 2015, chef Min Kim was already a culinary superstar. He was the executive chef of Mizumi, Wynn Palace in Macau, and helmed the Michelin-starred restaurant Narisawa and Ryugin in Tokyo.

So why did Wynn remodel and reopen his popular Japanese restaurant Mizumi to Kim's exacting specifications and then reopen without Kim?

As it turns out, Kim quietly left the restaurant in September after closing Min's Test Kitchen, a pop-up concept designed to stand the test of time during renovations.

The reason why his exit was so quiet is just a guess. A Wynn spokesperson said Kim "left the company in September following Min's Test Kitchen to pursue another opportunity."

However, VitalVegas's own blogger Scott Roeben set fire to his kitchen on the Strip this week after he reported that Kim was kicked out of her home over sexual harassment allegations.

Wynn said a new executive chef will be announced in the coming weeks.
