Vegas Music Update: Keith Urban Establishes New Residency, Lovers & Friends Shatters Hearts
Country musician Keith Urban is shifting his focus. He unveiled plans to headline a residency at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas, starting in the fall this year.
Prior to this, Urban had been part of Caesars Entertainment's team, with a stint at their Planet Hollywood venue between March and July 2023, and a tour at Caesars Palace in the year prior.
'Keith Urban's HIGH in Vegas' will feature 10 shows held at the BleauLive Theater - the Fontainebleau's first proper residency. So far, the venue has only hosted segments of other concert tours.
Urban's gigs are split into two halves:
- October 2024: 4th, 5th, 9th, 11th, 12th
- February 2025: 14th, 15th, 19th, 21st, 22nd
Tickets will be available to buy by the public on Friday, May 10 at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster.com/KeithUrbanVegas.
Urban's fan club, Ville, gets a chance to secure tickets early, with the presale beginning on Tuesday, May 7 at 10 a.m. Citi card holders can access tickets from 12 p.m. the same day. Those with Live Nation, Ticketmaster, Vibee, and SiriusXM can also get presales on Wednesday, May 8 at 10 a.m.
Happy Fans and Fair-Weather Friends
Certain artists, who were supposed to perform at the Lovers & Friends festival that got canceled on Saturday, tried to bring some cheer to their disheartened fans. High winds, predicted to reach unsafe levels the day before the event, prompted the organizers to scrap the sold-out show.
Over 65,000 people, who spent up to $700 each to be there, were distraught.
Snoop Dogg and T-Pain performed a free set at the Ayu Dayclub at Resorts World on Saturday afternoon. While Usher, the festival's co-founder and biggest draw, is credited with organizing a consolation show at the Jewel Nightclub at Aria three hours after the event was discontinued, that event was already in the works.
Most of the major headliners, including Alicia Keys and Janet Jackson, didn't attempt to assuage their fans' devastation beyond sympathetic social media posts. (Jackson expressed her sadness on Instagram, saying she was "heartbroken we won't be able to see you tonight.")
Refunds for fans who purchased tickets through Front Gate Tickets are expected within 30 days. Those who bought tickets elsewhere might not see their money returned.
Musical Blues in Vegas
Weather mishaps weren't the only letdown for Las Vegas concertgoers over the weekend. As per Vegas 411's Sam Novak, around 35 people, who paid around $1,000 per seat for Kylie Minogue's show at the Voltaire at the Venetian on Friday night, its penultimate performance, "discovered their seats had been canceled due to a glitch." This resulted in an "ugly situation" at the box office.
As it stands, the Vegas strip is a terrible place for a last-minute cancellation, considering most attendees have already shelled out hefty amounts on flights, hotels, and schedule adjustments exclusively for these events. So, refunds on just the tickets provide little solace to these dismayed fans.
