Wayne Newton, 81, extended his recent stay in Las Vegas by 62 dates.

Flamingo's "Wayne: Close Encounters" now runs through June 12, 2024, as Mr. Las Vegas celebrates the 65th anniversary of his first appearance on the Las Vegas stage day.

The historic event occurred on May 19, 1959, when Newton and his older brother Jerry performed as the "Newton Brothers" at the Fiesta Hall of the Fremont Hotel downtown . Wayne was 16 years old at the time.

“I went to Vegas two weeks before the end of my junior year in Phoenix,” he recently told The Arizona Republic. "For example, I thought the flamingo was just a big flamingo standing there with a lift going up its legs. I don't know what Las Vegas is like."

Feels like last time

Foreigner says he will score a new two-leg victory at Venetian next year.

The "Cold As Ice" hitmaker - whose only remaining original member is guitarist Mick Jones - will be at the Venice Theater on March 22, 23, 37, 29 and 30 Performance. The second round is October 25, 26, and 30 and November 1, 2, 6, 8, and 9.
