Vegas Music Roundup: Upcoming at Sphere - Zac Brown; EDC's Map Revealed

Zac Brown Band surprised the people of Las Vegas by announcing that they will be the ones taking on the prestigious residency at the Sphere. It was not supposed to be Harry Styles, as people had speculated earlier. Nor the Eagles, nor Beyonce.

"It's the best canvas ever made, and for us to be one of the first bands to go in there and do it, this is our masterpiece, our chance to show what we can truly achieve as a band," Brown said on comedian Theo Von's YouTube podcast this week.

The Sphere made its debut last autumn when U2 established a residency there. Phish followed suit for a short while. Dead & Company is set to take over the space next, from May 16 to July 13.

Social media users reacted with disbelief to Brown's news.

"They're good, but not quite Sphere level," tweeted @elbogz under a post from @vegasstarfish, a Vegas influencer who broke the story.

"Another pass for me," commented @gootecks. " Pretty funny they always post asking what we want, and all requests are just ignored."

"I don't even know who Zac Brown is," added @1BethDutton.

For @1BethDutton's benefit, Zac Brown is a 45-year-old country singer who has been active since 2004. His band has sold 9 million albums and 20 million singles, and won three Grammys including 'Best New Artist' in 2010.

The EDC shared a festival map on Instagram on Friday.

This map shows the position of the stages, themed areas, and other attractions for the upcoming EDM festival that will take over almost every available space at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway between May 17-19.

EDC has promised nine stages filled with trippy EDM performances by Diplo, Steve Aoki, Dom Dolla, deadmau5, DJ Nake, and Subtronics. There will also be carnival rides, themed areas, and an unnecessarily pricey journey back and forth if you plan on using a rideshare or a taxi.

Three-day passes are still accessible. The most affordable option we found on Vivid Seats before fees and taxes was $439.
