Vegas Music Roundup: Ed Sheeran cancels stadium show, Aguilera residency takes place on New Year's Eve
Ed Sheeran has postponed his Allegiant Stadium concert on Saturday night, September 9th - just 90 minutes before his opening act was scheduled to take the stage! This left at least 40,000 fans devastated, most of whom fled the venue and went to Las Vegas just to see the show.
"I can't believe I'm writing this, but we're having some challenges loading the Vegas show," Sheeran posted on Instagram at 5:45 p.m. PT. "There's no way the show can go on. I'm sorry. I know that's what everyone is here for and I wish I could change that."
The show has been rescheduled to Saturday 28 October and all Saturday tickets are valid for the new date.
An unconfirmed report said Occupational Safety and Health Administration officials shut down the stage after a local contractor caused the collapse.
At least some fans got a nice consolation prize. After the delay, Sheeran personally apologized to the dozens of people who gathered in parts of the empty stadium and posed for photos with them. The spontaneous meeting lasted approximately 30 minutes.
