"Vegas Music Festival 'Life Is Beautiful' Amplifying Reduction in Scale"
This year, life's beauty will be concentrated in a smaller, more intimate setting.
The annual "Life is Beautiful" music festival, which spanned over 18 city blocks in Las Vegas for a decade, will be relocated to a solitary, vacant lot near the Plaza Hotel & Casino downtown.
The upcoming event, now referred to as "The Big Beautiful Block Party," will also be shortened from the usual three days to just two.
According to a statement from the festival organizers, there are several reasons for pausing the Life is Beautiful Festival this year, although they chose not to elaborate. They are actively working to reinvent and refine the festival experience for the fans and the surrounding community.
The largest crowd ever recorded for "Life is Beautiful" reached 180,000 attendees over three days. The 10-acre vacant lot that will house "The Big Beautiful Block Party" is estimated to accommodate around 25,000 people.
The statement further clarifies that this event is not meant to replace the festival, but serves as an opportunity to continue the annual tradition of gathering in Downtown Las Vegas to lift each other's spirits, express ourselves, and connect. In due time, both events will coexist.
"Life is Beautiful" was established in 2013 by the late Tony Hsieh, former CEO of Zappos. In February 2022, a majority stake in the festival was acquired by Rolling Stone magazine. In 2017, Rolling Stone made significant cost cuts by laying off 30% of its editorial staff as it transitioned from bi-weekly to monthly print publication.
Last year, the festival marked its 10th anniversary with a grand celebration, featuring headliners such as Kendrick Lamar, ODESZA, and The 1975.
This year's event will be the first to be solely owned by Rolling Stone.
The event on the two stages will unfold on September 27 and 28, from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. The performers on those stages will be unveiled at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25. Two-day passes, starting at $199, will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, via lifeisbeautiful.com.
