It seems that a Las Vegas restaurant won't be able to recover from its less-than-impressive attempt to make things right.

Dirt Dog has received a cease and desist letter from BBC Studios, the company responsible for licensing the popular children's show "Bluey," airing in the US on Disney+.

The small, Off-Strip fast-food establishment made headlines earlier this month for its misguided promotion to "meet Bluey & friends," starring in the Australian cartoon about a Blue Heeler puppy. Over 3,000 people were left disappointed, waiting in a long line to meet the characters, only to find a man in a cheap onesie and what appeared to be a dog-poop bag on his face.

Dirt Dog initially promised a do-over of its May 11 fiasco with a "real" Bluey, but this will no longer be possible.

According to the legal document, obtained by KVVU-TV/Las Vegas, "To prevent all further harm, BBC Studios demands that you cancel all planned BLUEY DAY events and that you immediately and permanently cease offering any services or products in connection with or that use in any way the BLUEY mark, any confusingly similar variations thereof, and/or any images of characters that are the exclusive intellectual property of Ludo Studio."

It's a Bluey Disaster!

Needless to say, the parents who attended the initial "Bluey Day" probably wouldn't have attended the second one. Their social media comments were overflowing with outrage at Dirt Dog's insensitivity.

"Temu Bluey costume and decorations from Dollar Tree," wrote Kevin Tagenhorst under the event's Facebook ad. "Thanks for ruining my 3-year-old's day!"

"You pissed off a community of parents," added Leiren Theroux. "I'll never be back to your establishment. My daughter was super disappointed."

"I drove one hour just to see a grown man in PJs," another parent chimed in. Another posted a comment on Facebook Marketplace, offering a proper Bluey costume that the restaurant could have rented for $85.

“I was mad,” young Sophia Hernandez told “He looked unexpected. We could see his beard.”
Parents were enticed to attend by this advertisement.
