Ushers headline Super Bowl halftime show
Apple Music and the NFL announced Sunday that Usher will headline the Super Bowl 58 halftime show on February 11, 2024 in Las Vegas.
Usher, 44, has eight Grammy Awards, four No. 1 albums and nine Billboard No. 1 hits, including "U Got It Bad," "U Don't Have to Call." and "Nice & Slow."
It has to rival last year's most-watched Super Bowl halftime show in the NFL. Rihanna was on set showing off her second pregnancy to nearly 120 million people. According to TMZ, the FCC received more than 100 complaints following the big game, many of which claimed Rihanna's performance was "clearly sexual."
"It's been the honor of a lifetime to be able to finally check playing in the Super Bowl off my bucket list," Usher said in an NFL press release, apparently forgetting that he also attended the Super Bowl in 2011 45th edition, although it was just for the show where he performed the song "OMG" during the Black Eyed Peas' headline show.
"I can't wait to give the world a show from me that they've never seen before," Arthur continued. "Thank you to the fans and everyone who made this opportunity a reality. We will see you soon."
Long Shot
Last month, Usher, who has been living in Las Vegas since 2021, didn't even appear on FanDuel's short list of Halftime Headliner Favorites, which featured Miley Cyrus ( Miley Cyrus at +300, followed by Harry Styles at +600 and then Puerto Rican superstar (and former Super Bowl player) Bad Bunny at +900.
Taylor Swift, who sold out Allegiant Stadium twice in March 2023, reportedly turned down the opportunity but is still on the shortlist at +900.
“She would like to be a part of the show at some point and would be leaning towards doing that within a few years, especially with the Super Bowl in Nashville,” an anonymous source close to the NFL told The Daily Mail last month. reported in the newspaper.
False news
Apple Music announced the news on Twitter, along with a humorous video starring Usher and Kim Kardashian. In the video, Kardashian appears to reveal the news to her famous friend via an emergency phone call.
"No, seriously, don't do that," Usher told Kardashian, who then asked the R&B singer for a ticket.
That means me, my entire family, all my kids, and maybe five to 10 friends,” Kardashian said.
"I'll call you back," Arthur replied.
Kardashian's contribution was filmed for commercials. But Usher's part comes from the music video for his song "Confessions Part II." Apple Music also shared a similar video starring former NFL star Deion Sanders.
The big game will kick off on February 11, 2024 at Allegiant Stadium and will air on CBS.
