Will he break the silence? - Upcoming Löwen team switch confirmed.
Meet the Lions' newest striker: Fabian Schubert. This 29-year-old player joins the team after a free transfer from St. Gallen, Switzerland. Having scored 33 goals in 28 games for Blau-Weiß Linz in the 2020/21 season, he's ready to help 1860 improve their goal count in the upcoming season. Schubert is the fourth official transfer for the club, following Florian Bähr from Osnabrück, Tunay Deniz from Halle, and David Philipp from Viktoria Köln. More new arrivals, including Patrick Hobsch from Haching, are expected to join soon.
Schubert expressed his excitement about joining the team, saying, "When the Lions call, it's hard to resist this offer. After speaking with the people in charge, I quickly realized that I wanted to wear the Löwen jersey and can't wait for the new season."
Last season, the Lions finished with the third-worst offense in the league, scoring only 40 goals in 38 games. Schubert's impressive track record of scoring a goal every 1.05 games will undoubtedly add some spark to their attack. Despite only scoring 16 goals in 66 games at St. Gallen, his performance at Blau-Weiß Linz demonstrated his strong scoring instinct. However, he did suffer a serious injury, a tibia and fibula fracture, in September 2022 during his time with St. Gallen but is now ready to get back on the field with the Lions.
