Thanks to the efforts of Kane, Sane, and Musiala, - Upcoming challenges loom large for Tuchel as season ends.
This weekend, Bayern will take on Hoffenheim in their last match of the Bundesliga season, and they're facing a thin squad. During a secret training session on Thursday morning, the coach was missing 11 players from his roster!
Tuchel deals with significant concerns before Bayern's final game
Here are some key absentees:
► Harry Kane (30): He has been dealing with back issues and had to be subbed out in the 85th minute against Real Madrid in the semi-final second leg (1:2). Kane also missed the match against Wolfsburg (2:0) last weekend. If he can't play this weekend, he'll end the season with 36 league goals - a new high for him in Germany, though not surpassing Robert Lewandowski's 41-goal mark from the 2020/21 season (35).
► Leroy Sané (28): He wasn't at the training session on Thursday either, as he's still recovering from painful pubic bone inflammation and preparing for the European Championships.
► Jamal Musiala (21): He's been dealing with a knee tendon irritation for weeks, and Bayern is cautious about his situation in advance of the Euros starting on June 14.
Also not present at Thursday's training were:
► Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (34): The striker (whose contract is up) missed the Wolfsburg match due to a cold and even on Thursday, he wasn't back at Säbener Straße, possibly leading to a quiet goodbye from Munich.
► Minjae Kim (27): The South Korean only did some weight room cycling on Thursday. He hasn't been at full strength in recent weeks.
► Sacha Boey (23): After tearing a muscle bundle in his left hamstring, he returned to team training, but he wasn't present on Thursday.
Training on the field were:
► Bouna Sarr (32): He's recovering from a torn cruciate ligament in his left knee.
► Kingsley Coman (27): He's recovering from a tear in his right adductor.
► Tarek Buchmann (19): He's been sidelined due to his fourth thigh injury of the season and training on the pitch now.
Coman, in particular, made significant progress in his recovery, completing an hour-long training session with rehab coach Simon Martinello (39) that included long and short sprints. Martinello was especially impressed: "Well done, King!"
Serge Gnabry (28) and Raphael Guerreiro (30) are still receiving treatment.
The final decision on other injured players will likely be made at the last training session on Friday. Tuchel's Bayern is down to the wire in this last match of the season.
