Leipzig is transforming its image. - Up for sale: RB goalkeeper's transfer release for a whopping 5 million.
It is apparent right now that Leopold Zingerle will stay as the third-choice goalkeeper. Preceding him is Peter Gulacsi (34), who has had an outstanding second half of the season (13 games/9 goals conceded). Before Gulacsi, Janis Blaswich (33) stepped up as his replacement for about a year and a half. Leipzig are also planning to bring in Maarten Vandevoordt (22/Genk) this summer, who they've already agreed to sign for an estimated €10 million in 2022. Since all three harbor dreams of becoming the top keeper, RB cannot afford to have three potential regulars on their payroll.
Vandevoordt has departed Genk and hopes to take further strides at Leipzig.
Blaswich, on the other hand, is seeking a transfer, according to Sky. He has received other offers and may even consider a move overseas.
Recently, coach Marco Rose (47) stated about the goalkeeper situation in the summer: "We need to sit down and create an arrangement where we acquire a young goalkeeper and be satisfied with it."
Gulacsi seeks long-term commitment
It's a possibility: with Gulacsi as a strong option and some (cup) playing time, Vandevoordt can establish himself in Leipzig.
RB rejected an enticing offer from Nottingham Forest for Gulacsi in the winter. The Hungarian international keeper is still allegedly the goal of several Premier League clubs.
Leipzig need to quicken their decision-making process.
