They engage in the sport of handball. - Unusual Training Methods at a Bundesliga Football Club

SC DHfK Leipzig hopes to finish in the 8th spot of the Liqui Moly Handball Bundesliga against HSV Hamburg this Saturday at 6 PM. They plan on leaving some damage on the northerners. Preparations for this match involved a tiring judo session with Judo-Club Leipzig, one of Germany's top teams.

A unique training routine from the Bundesliga team

Both teams stepped onto the tatami together. Judo-Club Leipzig's captain, Lukas Binder (31), shared his thoughts on the experience: "They were really friendly people and it was a lot of fun. But it was draining. It's probably like a judoka sprinting up and down for an hour - they wouldn't make it that far either. And that's how I felt during this training session. I was more tired than I had been in a while."

The team went through some sparring, grappling, and the judo roll. Binder, who usually only encounters such a physical duel in his position, observed: "It did create a certain level of aggression. If we did it once a week, I think it might help our defense. But that's just theory."

How will these skills translate against HSV, who are grappling with their license and Bundesliga status? Binder predicts: "It doesn't matter what issues HSV may be facing at the moment; they will take it seriously and want to prove their worthiness in this league right away."
