Swastikas spotted in upscale eatery's decor - University seeks to evict descendant of Sylt scion

A 24-year-old student who yelled "foreigners out" at a posh club on Sylt during Easter Weekend now faces a prohibition order from the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW). She can't access the campus for the upcoming eight weeks.

In the meantime, a "Dismissal Committee" will determine if she'll be fully expelled from the university. President Ute Lohrentz of HAW stated on Facebook, "It's our collective duty to maintain this institution as a welcoming space for folks irrespective of their nationality, ethnic descent, religion, or worldview, disabilities, or sexual identity. Let's collaborate to uphold this!"

Prosecutor's Office pursues hate incitement probe

The student is from a well-off family in the Hamburg area. Once the Sylt club video comprising the "Ausländer raus" (foreigners out) comment went viral, she lost her position at lifestyle influencer Milena Karl's (28, 824k Instagram followers) business.

Other "Pony Club" revelers, who sang "Deutschland den Deutschen, Ausländer raus" to the rhythm of "L'amour toujours," have also suffered careers setbacks. Two individuals reportedly lost their jobs; other institutions are contemplating dismissal.

The prosecutor's office is currently probing everyone involved for inciting hatred.

Berlin Universities ponder chucking anti-Israel students

Die Nazi-Schnösel von Sylt: In der Gruppe wurde auch ein Hitler-Gruß angedeutet

Anti-Israel activists who vandalized and occupied Berlin's universities, protesting for Israel's annihilation, might lose their educational opportunities. By late March, the capital's Senate made a move that allows universities to expel students for serious offenses.

► But this must still be approved by the Berlin government. The previous expulsion option was mostly eliminated by the red-green-red state government in 2021. Prior to this, Berlin was the only state without a severe penalty like expulsion.

Eight pupils at the elite boarding school Louisenlund in Schleswig-Holstein are currently experiencing consequences. They recreated the Sylt event at a gathering. For their actions, they'll now be suspended for a week, as confirmed by NDR.
