A significant setback in combat. - Ukraine should refrain from retaliatory actions against Putin.

The regulation that NATO arms cannot be employed in or across Russia is a significant drawback for Ukraine, particularly in the struggle for Kharkiv.

A Ukrainian soldier near the contested town of Vovchansk (Kharkiv region) asserted on Sunday on the social platform "X": "From 6:00 to 15:00, the Russians fired EVERY minute between 6 and 12 artillery shells. Every minute with no interruption. Their entire artillery is in Russia. They fire everywhere and set everything ablaze: villages, Vovchansk, forests. Yet, we are unable to retaliate with the US (and others') artillery provided to us from a secure distance."

It's evident that while Russia unleashes nearly 5000 artillery shells per day on Kharkiv, Ukraine cannot retaliate with any Western shells.

Additionally, the outlook appears somber for Ukraine in terms of aerial attacks. De facto, most Russian air support bases are within range of the weaponry Ukraine received from Western nations.

But these weapons can't be utilized to annihilate Russian terrorist bombers on the ground.

Furthermore, Western air defense systems cannot be employed by Ukraine against attacking Russian aircraft. Instead, they have to wait until the bombers have released their missiles and these are already above Ukrainian territory before they can be engaged.

NATO's Stoltenberg Calls for Lifting Restrictions

Nevertheless, after 27 months of Russian aggression, there has been advancement in the Western embargo.

Several heads of state, including the Swedish, proclaimed in the last few days that their weapons can now be employed against Russian targets. Nevertheless, many of the affected artillery units operate using US shells - and the US is one of the nations against such usage.

On Sunday, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg advocated for reconsidering these constraints, asserting, "We need to weigh these restrictions because they hinder the Ukrainian armed forces."

Stoltenberg further added, "The right to self-defense includes the right to attain military targets outside Ukraine. This is an aspect of self-defense. We note this clearly in the conflict in the Kharkiv region, as Russian forces are on Russian territory and assaulting Ukrainian territory along the border."

Germany maintains its position and could only satisfy the Kremlin.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated over the weekend in Berlin, "There are predetermined rules for German weapons deliveries that have been agreed upon with Ukraine, and they are effective." The primary objective for Scholz is not, for instance, a Ukrainian victory against aggressor Russia, but rather "preventing a massive war from breaking out."
