A two-year-old girl's body was found in a rented apartment on a Sunday morning. The authorities have yet to release any official statements regarding the case. However, according to sources within the investigation team, there are signs of foul play, as per a report by Mitteldeutsche Zeitung (MZ). Investigations are currently underway.
Apparently, several red marks, indicating burns, were discovered on the child's body.
The Mother Had No Idea Her Child Was Dead
The girl's mother spoke to MZ about the incident, stating that their instantaneous water heater had been faulty for quite some time. She mentioned that it was showertime for the toddler when the temperature of the water suddenly changed from lukewarm to scalding hot.
The parents alleged that they were unaware of their daughter's injuries. They put her to bed, only to find her lifeless hours later on Sunday morning.
The Parents Had No Knowledge of Their Child's Demise
The couple supposedly did not realize their daughter had suffered burns. They had spent the previous evening with their daughter and her grandmother, who eventually discovered the lifeless girl in her bed.
A police representative from Halle made a statement, "The factors that resulted in the child's death are entirely unclear at this point." No arrests have been made yet.
Forensics personnel collected evidence from the apartment building in Paracelsusstraße on that Sunday. Reports suggest that the girl's bedding was also seized.
An autopsy is to determine the cause of her death. The older sister has been placed under the custody of the youth welfare office. She was taken to a child protection center.
