After midnight, the fire department was alerted to a burning field close to Garßen in Celle, Lower Saxony. The flames were easily visible from a distance, suggesting a considerable blaze.
50 firefighters worked tirelessly to contain the fire, preventing it from spreading to a nearby Christmas tree plantation. They worked on extinguishing the burning round bales until the wee hours of the morning.
The origin of the fire remains unknown, and police are currently conducting an investigation.
