What stood out was: - Tuchel attends final training session with Bayern.
On Friday afternoon at 2:05pm, Thomas Tuchel, aged 50, set foot on Bayern's training ground. It was his final session as the coach of the record champions. His demeanor was cheerful and he appeared to be feeling easy and comfortable.
Less than two and a half hours prior, Tuchel astonished the world of German football with his statements during the press conference leading up to the Saturday Bundesliga encounter with Hoffenheim (3:30pm / Sky and live ).
He seemed to be concluding the situation in a happy manner, claiming the dismissal in February would be the end of it. However, Tuchel clarified, "The arrangement from February stands. We had conversations, but we didn't reach an agreement. That's why it stays the same."
Making the decision was not an easy task for him. Tuchel shared that he was "a bit melancholy" because he doesn't enjoy leaving teams and the staff. "It begins with the porters in the underground car park and the team in the kitchen. They strive to make us feel at home. It's not simple to part ways after spending long hours together."
However, he seemed amazingly at ease with his choice. Even at the press conference, Tuchel was brimming with composure.
Tuchel's closing opinion on his first complete season with Bayern: "To sum up the season in one statement, you can say that a trophy-less season with Bayern Munich is not fulfilling. The Champions League season was almost flawless until the 87th minute in Madrid. I believe it's worth scrutinizing the season with a refined perspective. We are justified in leaving these 15 months with our chins held high."
Bayern still has one objective in the Bundesliga. They are pushing for second place in the standings on the last matchday against Hoffenheim. Drawing against TSG would suffice in the intense battle with VfB Stuttgart (playing at home against Gladbach). Securing second place could potentially generate over €5 million. A farewell present from Tuchel?
This could at least compensate part of his severance pay (€10 million)... [chez]
