Convicted of 34 offenses. - Trump complains over judgment
Yesterday, a court found the ex-president guilty on all 34 counts. Now, Trump might go to jail.
Following the verdict, he's currently outside his Trump Tower in New York for a press conference, where he claims the judge, Juan Merchan (61), is "highly biased" and "crooked." Trump also says the man "looks like an angel, but in reality, he's a devil."
The case against him is "unfair" and a "scam," according to the ex-president. He alleges that Biden and his people cause this whole lawsuit. No one has seen a trial like this, claims Trump.
The Michael Cohen case, where Trump had to pay significant fines and risk ending up in prison due to a gag order, was also "unfair."
"This is bigger than me, bigger than Trump," said Trump, implying that no US president should face a legal battle like this.
Trump sees the accusations as an attempt to silence him. He didn't pay anyone under duress, asserts Trump.
The payments to porn actress Stormy Daniels (45) after an alleged affair during the 2016 presidential campaign are nothing controversial, according to Trump. "It's simply a confidentiality agreement."
With 34 counts of guilt, Trump is the first US president ever to be criminally charged, and he has ambitions to remain in the Oval Office with a conviction.
On July 11, the specific sentence will be revealed. A jail term lasting up to four years is possible. But, other possible outcomes include a fine, community work, or house arrest.
