Tropicana's Online Casino Rebrands under Caesars in New Jersey
Caesars Entertainment has revealed the revival of the Tropicana Online Casino in New Jersey, introducing a fresh take to the digital version of this legendary land-based gaming facility in the state.
The desktop iteration of Tropicana Online Casino is now active, and mobile gamblers can download its compatible app on iOS and Android. The online version of the casino provides common offerings in the iGaming sector, such as slot machines, video poker, and table games. These include favorites like blackjack, American and European roulette, and baccarat, among others. In conjunction with the reintroduction of Tropicana Online in New Jersey, Caesars has launched two new responsible gaming initiatives.
The first initiative is the industry's most comprehensive universal exclusion policy, which adds those on a state-operated self-exclusion list at Caesars locations to the universal exclusion list at all Caesars gaming facilities and platforms across the company. Moreover, the business implemented a heightened 21+ gaming policy that restricts Caesars Rewards accounts to individuals 21 years of age or older and, wherever legally permitted, limits all domestic gaming, pari-mutuel, sports, and iGaming options to individuals over 21 years of age, according to a statement.
New Jersey is one of six states that permit online casinos. The other five are Connecticut, Delaware, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Caesars has been offering iGaming in New Jersey under its namesake brand.
Tropicana Online Might Appeal to New Jersey Bettors
Tropicana Online might entice New Jersey bettors acquainted with the land-based version located on the Atlantic City Boardwalk because of its branding.
This venue first opened in 1981 under the Tropicana name. However, its history dates back to 1919, making it one of three on the Boardwalk operated by Caesars. The other two properties are Caesars Palace and Harrah's. Tropicana Atlantic City became part of the Caesars portfolio after Eldorado Resorts acquired the company in 2020. Before that, Tropicana operated the venue on the Boardwalk.
Gaming and Leisure Properties (GLPI) holds the real estate and leases the venue to Caesars. The corporate history of Tropicana Atlantic City is intriguing. Tropicana Entertainment LLC declared bankruptcy in 2008 during the financial crisis. Two years later, financier Carl Icahn helped the company emerge from bankruptcy.
In the ensuing eight years, Tropicana Entertainment was involved in numerous mergers and acquisitions, eventually selling itself to Eldorado in 2018. A year later, Icahn orchestrated the sale of "old Caesars" to Eldorado.
Moving on, Caesars utilizing well-known branding - as with Tropicana Online Casino - for Internet success isn't unconventional. For instance, there are online versions of Borgata and Golden Nugget in New Jersey, while their parent companies BetMGM and DraftKings have separate iGaming platforms in the state.
A Clever Decision by Caesars
The announcement of the rejuvenation of Tropicana Online in New Jersey occurred less than a week after an analyst claimed Caesars Digital doesn't receive the recognition it deserves from investors.
Additionally, Tropicana Online relaunched at a time when Caesars' online division is edging closer to profitability, an improvement that can be aided by the internet casino's association with Caesars' renowned loyalty program.
"The new iCasino app and online casino experience provides customers with enhanced functionality, along with an improved integration with the industry-leading loyalty program, Caesars Rewards," the operator said in the announcement.
