Over 80 individuals aboard - Train abandoned due to misinterpreted phone conversation
On a recent Monday, a 36-year-old Iraqi man asked a 22-year-old woman during their journey from Marktredwitz to Oberkotzau in Bavaria about how the train was divided to avoid traveling in the wrong direction. Using his cell phone, the man translated his query using Google translator. Sadly, the translation got mixed up and ended up referring to an "exploding train" instead.
Scared for their lives, the woman rushed to the toilet and alerted the police about the potential danger. The officers immediately evacuated the train with 80 passengers in the district of Hof and shut down the local train station and a nearby youth center. Even an explosives detection dog was called in to check for any threats.
Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the man's question had been completely misunderstood, and there was no bomb threat at all. The confusion led to a total of 18 trains being affected by the chain reaction, causing significant delays of approximately 1000 minutes.
