Devastating plunge - Tragic: Eventing Rider Passes Away at Age 36.
Versatile rider Georgie Campbell suffered a fatal injury during the Bicton Horse Trials. Tragically, she was just 36 years old.
A terrible incident took place at the Cross-Country course's fence, where Campbell and her horse Global Quest fell into the water. The competition had to be halted after her accident. Fortunately, the horse emerged unscathed.
The organizers shared the heartbreaking news: "With immense sadness, we must inform you that Georgie Campbell (GBR) met with a tragic accident on Sunday, May 26, 2024, during the Bicton International Horse Trials in Devon, England. Despite emergency medical personnel immediately rushing to the scene after her fall at fence 5b, they could not save her."
In order to protect the family's privacy, the organizers chose not to disclose further details. Campbell had been happily married to fellow rider Jesse Campbell from New Zealand since December 2020.
An expert rider, Campbell had taken part in over 200 competitions, earning her a respectable six titles.
