Protests Occur - Trade unions plan to hold 22 events across the country on May 1.

The unions in Saxony-Anhalt are organizing 22 events at 20 venues for May Day on Wednesday. Their slogan is "Higher pay. More leisure time. Greater security," as the German Confederation of Trade Unions shared in advance. "Unions represent fair compensation, appealing work schedules, and guaranteed employment," clarified Susanne Wiedemeyer, the DGB state director. "These vital union promises address the growing insecurity felt by people due to wars, rising costs, and structural transformation." Collective agreements encompassing the greatest number of workers are essential. Demonstrations are planned for that Wednesday in Halle and Wittenberg in addition to the customary rally.
